AN INTERVIEW WITH BLUEBERRY TUESDAY
Winter 2022
Who are your biggest inspirations?
Our inspirations grow constantly but to sum up where we are lately, Nina Hagen, Twompsax, Surfbort, Tokio Hotel, Einstürdenze Neubauten, Dir en Grey, The Birthday Party, and Lighting Bolt to name a few.
How did you come up with the name?
B was eating Blueberries on a Tuesday when we recorded our first track.
How would you describe your sound?
Our first album “collage of nonsense” explains it perfectly, our music is best left up to interpretation, it changes constantly.
How did the members meet?
We met at an art market in Denton talking to goats.
If you had no choice but to become a cover band, who would you cover?
If we had to be a cover band we’d cover The Aches.
What is the hardest part about being in a band?
Being told we’re a band is the hardest thing, it’s weird for us to be grouped into being one thing, we do so much more with this project, the music is secondary.
What is your end goal?
Our end goal is kind of a hard question, we just want to continue creating and experimenting 10 years from now and watch the Lego movie. Living in the moment is more important.
If your grandmother wrote a review on your band what would it most likely say?
“Das ist ja laut. Das ist von dir? Wie? Das geht gar nicht. Was ist mit dem Frosch? Naja, das eine Lied geht. Macht dich das glücklich? Hast du einen Freund gefunden?”
What is the craziest thing you’ve experienced as a band?
The craziest thing we’ve experienced as a band is people actually connecting with us and being interested in our art, we really just do it for ourselves but the feedback has been more than we ever expected.
Which song of yours was the most fun to write & make?
The last song on our album “Collage of Nonsense” called “Ribbit: The untold coming of age story about a frog named Gregory” was really fun, it’s the longest song we’ve recorded so far and we enjoyed being able to tell a story that was dear to us as well as be insanely loud in the end.
What helps bond you as a band?
Honestly, painting, making noise, watching movies and genuinely just being kids is what keeps us going, we don’t really care about any of the big stuff in life, we just enjoy creating and being children.
