AN INTERVIEW WITH SEER

Spring 2023

How did you come up with the name?

We came up with the name Seer from a fortunate typo. It was going to originally be a Stoner

metal band and I wanted it to be Sear as in burning something. I stuck with Seer because it was

better.

How would you describe your sound?

It's Doom, Sludge, Goth, Grunge and Glam. When you slam them all together it makes Gloom

Metal.

How did the members meet?

Raiden and I (Dave) met through School of Rock. Sam and Raiden were in a Church band

together growing up. When Raiden and I were starting the band he mentioned having Sam

come play bass. We’ve been jamming since.

If you had no choice but to become a cover band, who would you cover?

If we are being fully transparent probably Type O Negative but we will say Black Sabbath.

How do you deal with creative block as a band? How do you continue to come up with new

sounds/ideas as a group?

We are constantly listening to as much music as possible. We also have been playing music

together for four years. We always bounce off each other's ideas which helps push the creative

process when we have any writer's block.

What is the hardest part about being in a band?

The hardest part about being in a band is anything that is not playing music. Managing/Booking

shows, and finding parking at venues.

If your grandmother wrote a review on your band what would it most likely say?

“I think it’s good but what’s with all the screaming. Why are you playing so slow? What did he

just say? Why are the songs so long?”

Which song of yours was the most fun to write & make?

Doesn’t Matter was one of the most fun to write. We spent 6 hours at rehearsal trying to get the

bridge of the song down. The practice ended when Raiden Shoved his sticks through his floor

Tom. End Unknown was a fun song to record. We had some Auxiliary and percussion that we

added to the song. We used a Rainstick, Bongos , Congas and tambourine.

What helps bond you as a band?

We bond through the music we make. We see shows as group enrichment time. We hangout,

They steal my water, Jam on stage, Sometimes we play each other’s instruments, and make

funky eye contact with each other.
