AN INTERVIEW
WITH THE ACHES
Spring 2023
How do you feel your sound has changed since we last talked (winter 2022)?
Our songs got longer. Erika has started singing more songs. Charlie has sung a few. Our songs
have been a little slower and have more parts. Our songs are way more well thought out than
the ep.

What was your favorite show you’ve played?
March 24th in houston at The End, January 25th at house of commons, June 1st at Rubber
Gloves with great bands. I’m pretty sure the video is on youtube, if not now then soon. But also
April 28th at rubber gloves. We love Scott.

favorite band you've played with?
There’s so many. Artificial fun, Sexual Jeremy, Girlo, Answering Machines, Five point, Bluberry
Tuesday and Jake’s Holiday.

what are some challenges you've faced as a band? how have you overcome them?
The mounting responsibilities of increasing business has been a challenge. But we have
communicated to share the responsibilities to not get too stressed.

Describe the creative process of your self titled EP!
We wanted to create new material and we wanted it to translate to how we play live. We also
collaborated on all the songs through jamming at practice.

How do you deal with creative block as a band?
We play glue man.

how do you continue to come up with new sounds/ideas as a group?
By jamming because we all listen to different music. We all come up with different ideas and
these ideas combine in unique ways. I think of the grand canyon.

- How do you as a band work through the 'business' side of things? (booking shows, merch,
promotion, etc.)
Emails, Emails, Emails. Social stuff.

Whats been your favorite moment/biggest achievement as a band so far?
Finishing an album and writing the music.

Is there anything currently in the making? (songs, albums, tour, etc.)
Yes we have an album called heart machine coming out soon. By the time this zine releases it
will be out. And our mini tour begins june 22nd when we play in arizona, and then 23rd in vegas
and then 24th in san diego.
